📋 1. What We Collect

When you use MaxWills, we collect the information needed to prepare your estate planning documents:

Account information: Your name and email address, collected when you create an account.
Estate planning answers: Your responses to the interview questions (family situation, assets, beneficiaries, executor preferences, etc.). This is used solely to generate your documents.
Payment information: Processed through Stripe. We do not store your credit card number, CVV, or full card details — Stripe handles all payment processing under their own security standards.
Documents you upload: Prior estate planning documents you choose to upload (prior wills, trusts, etc.) are stored temporarily and used only to inform your new documents.
Usage data: Standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) for service operation and security.

🔍 2. How We Use Your Information

Your information is used exclusively for one purpose: to generate your estate planning documents and provide the services you requested. We use it to:

Generate your Texas will and related estate planning documents
Facilitate optional attorney review through Texas Defense Team
Send you your completed documents and execution instructions
Process your payment through Stripe
Respond to your support requests
Maintain the security and operation of this service

🤖 3. AI Processing

Your estate planning answers are sent to Anthropic's API to generate your will and related documents.

MaxWills uses artificial intelligence provided by Anthropic, PBC to generate your estate planning documents. Your answers to the interview questions are transmitted to Anthropic's API for this purpose. Anthropic does not use data submitted through their API to train their AI models — this is governed by Anthropic's API Privacy Policy.

How MaxWills improves over time: MaxWills learns from patterns in legal form errors identified during attorney review — for example, if a particular question pattern commonly results in a missing clause. This learning uses only structural patterns (what type of error occurred in what scenario), never the personal content of your answers. Your name, family details, and asset information are not used for training purposes.

MaxWills does not build or train its own large language models. All AI inference is handled by Anthropic's third-party API under their commercial terms.

🗓️ 4. Data Retention

We retain your account and document data for 3 years from your last activity, or until you request deletion. This allows you to access your completed documents and request updates within that window.

Documents you upload (prior wills, etc.) are stored for the duration of your session and deleted within 90 days after your documents are generated, or upon your request. Payment records are retained as required by applicable law and Stripe's terms.

🔗 5. Third-Party Services

MaxWills uses the following third-party services:

Stripe — Payment processing. Stripe stores your payment information under their security standards. We receive only a payment confirmation token.
Resend — Transactional email delivery (your documents, receipts, attorney review notifications).
Anthropic — AI document generation via their Claude API. Anthropic does not train on API data.
MaxDockets / Texas Defense Team — If you purchase attorney review, your documents and contact information are shared with the reviewing law firm for the limited purpose of that review. This sharing is governed by the law firm's engagement letter and attorney-client privilege.

We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with data brokers or advertising networks. Your data stays in your account, protected with industry-standard encryption.

🔒 6. No Cross-User Data Pooling

Your estate planning answers and documents are never pooled with other users' data for analysis, comparison, or aggregated profiling. Each user's data is isolated in their own account. The attorney-client relationship (if you purchase review) is protected by privilege and is never disclosed to other users.

✅ 7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
Correction: Request correction of inaccurate personal information.
Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data. We will delete your data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

🛡️ 8. Security

Your data is protected with industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest (AES-256 class). Access to personal data is restricted to systems that need it to provide the service. We maintain security monitoring and conduct regular security reviews.

📝 9. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will notify you by email or by a notice on this page before the change takes effect. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the date of the most recent revision.
